What a start to the new 2020 decade. Who would’ve thought even two months ago that at this time we would be living through a pandemic. We don’t know about you, but we couldn't have guessed this in our wildest dreams.
First and foremost, we want to express our utmost gratitude and respect for the health care workers fighting COVID-19 on the front lines. For the sacrifices you have made and continue to make, you have our hearts. Your selflessness and strength are the glue that is holding the world together right now.
Second, we hope everyone is doing their part by “social distancing” and staying inside to avoid exposing themselves and those they surround themselves with to this disease! Obviously, it is not realistic to completely eliminate trips to the grocery store, or going outside to get some fresh air. We call this a sanity walk around the block and they have become a daily event for us.

Give Back to Those on the Front Lines
We also think there is no better time than the present to give back to our community, and we are able to do this by supporting local businesses. But, these sorts of situations can raise the issue of being able to abide by the recommended “social distancing” practices.
Within recent weeks, we have learned that the disease can be spread by pre-symptomatic and asymptomatic carriers. Because of this, the CDC recommends that we all wear face masks when we go out in public.
This is especially important because while you may be conscious of keeping a 6 foot distance from another person at the grocery store, they might not have the same awareness. And, while a face mask does not prevent someone from getting sick, it has proven to be a useful device in the containment of COVID-19.
Whether you currently reside in a state that requires you to wear a mask in a public setting, or not, we want to stress to you the importance of doing so.

Here are some of the benefits of wearing a face mask:
- By covering your nose and mouth, you are protecting others - this means at risk individuals whose lives depend on it!
- A mask is going to catch any cough or sneeze droplets that would otherwise infect people - if using a disposable one, make sure to throw it away after **ONE USE & ONE USE ONLY **
- Face masks are a REMINDER for others to stay away & wear one.
- Consider it your badge of honor. You care about your community enough to wear one. Hopefully they will do the same.
- If you buy a reusable one, you’re not only protecting others, but also the environment. We <3 sustainability. (In this case, be sure to wash after every wear!)
- The sooner you wear a mask, the sooner all of our lives can go back to normal(ish) - (Precautions will still be just as, if not more important when things begin to open again!)
- And the obvious, to protect yourself.
What We Can Do

And, if you’re having a bad day or find yourself feeling angry at the current situation, know that you are entitled to that and you’re certainly not the only one. Navigating our “new normal” is going to take time and patience. Have grace with yourself and with others.
Take this time to do the things you would otherwise brush under the rug for another time. Call someone who you haven’t talked to in a while and catch up.
