Our Top 5 Things to Do in O'ahu Hawaii

what to do in Oahu
Favorite Beach on the North Shore, O'ahu

1. A Beach Day on the North Shore

We love our beaches from Laguna Beach to Ko Phi Phi Thailand we have enjoyed many sandy scenes but tucked away in the North Shore are some of the most beautiful white sand beaches we have ever seen.

So pack up the car, bring your floats, chilled rosé, sandwiches from any incredible local shop (STORTOS is our favorite make sure to get the papaya seed dressing), and beach yourself for the day. We promise you there is nothing like it!!

Dole Whip

2. Dole Whip and the Dole Plantation

Originally operated as a fruit stand beginning in 1950, Dole Plantation opened to the public as Hawaii’s “Pineapple Experience” in 1989. Today, the Dole Plantation is one of Oahu’s most popular visitor attractions and welcomes more than one million visitors a year.

Dole Plantation provides enjoyable activities for the entire family, including the Pineapple Express Train Tour, the Plantation Garden Tour, and the Pineapple Garden Maze.

Also popular are informational displays and presentations, as well as our plantation country store offering a wide variety of Dole Plantation gifts, local favorites, foods and refreshments including the world-famous DoleWhip®. And, before you leave you can purchase fresh pineapple to take home.

3. Need a beach break, BRUNCH yourself.

There are too many amazing places to brunch in O'ahu so just hop on Yelp or TripAdvisor to find the hottest spots near you. In fear of a food coma we did not try the Guava Chiffon Pancakes at Cinnamon's but apparently they are the very best and fluffiest pancakes on the island.

Our MUST is to try a mimosa with the local exotic fruit juices: Guava, Passionfruit, Pinapple, and Lychee! YUM :) To eat we ordered the Crab Cakes Benedict & the local dish, Loco Moco, made with yummy Hawaiian sticky rice, a ground beef patty covered in a demi-glaze gravy with two sunny side up eggs on top. Didn't really avoid the food coma but hey you're in Hawaii.

4. The Royal Hawaiian : Must-Try Mai Tai & Waikiki Beach

The Royal Hawaiian opened in 1927. With its rich history, strong ambassador loyalty, and connection to Hawaiian culture, this historic Honolulu hotel is spectacularly located on the famed Waikiki Beach.

5. Dinner at Uncle Bo's Pupu Bar & Grill

So many fun places to dine on the island but we found this one the most fun AND delicious. At Uncle Bo's there is something for everyone on the menu and a large FUN assortment of Pupu's or appetizers this is a must-eat for anyone! We ordered several items, but the Boca-Rota (pictured above) was by far our favorite. Don't forget to save room for the taro beignets for dessert.
